Computer Illiteracy

Usually I might complain about how hopeless many older adults are with computers or new technology in general. But once in a while I find a few younger people who are just as confused. Here are two real-world tips for your enjoyment below.

The Genius Thoughts of Bush

Not that I'm out to criticize people like G.W., but I just watched this last night and laughed. Now, someone posted it to the internet so I can share it with you. I think Bush is a bit silly here, but you can decide what you think.

Answering Questions, Battling McCain Misinformation

Well, I have been spending some spare time recently answering questions on Yahoo!'s Answers website. Hopefully I can get up to Level 2 sometime soon so that I can up/down vote others' answers. If you have standing on Answers, vote for my answers!

I have also been working to combat all the wonderful misinformation that the McCain machine has been putting out. See the latest rebuttal from the Obama camp below about the lies that McCain has worked to spread.

1st Post: American Cell Service Idiocy

Well, now that I am moving my long-term blogging here, I'll start ranting about how annoying cell phone companies are here vs. the UK.

Here's my issue: when I was overseas, I many times just slept in my pants with all my stuff in them. This included my cell phone which is pretty sturdy so I thought nothing of it until one day I found that my screen was broken. After a bit of searching in the UK, I found that it was pretty easy to be pointed to a store where they would be able to take it apart, pop in a new screen, and get it fixed. I needed it at the time, so I never got it fixed over there and figured it wouldn't be too hard to get it fixed back in the U.S.A.

Boy was I wrong! Number 1, unlike the helpful T-mobile UK site that points you to individual shops that are certified to do the repair, the T-mobile USA site basically says too bad, so sad, call our service number. So I called the number today and spoke with a helpful representative (far better rep than when I used boost mobile). I was then told that I would need to go to a physical store to check if they can have the repair done (and probably how much it will cost me). So that's my next step.

But seriously, if they would just have somewhere to sell me the screen, I wouldn't have any problems installing it. Oh well, hopefully I get it fixed before school starts again. Later!
